1HGJ – One hour game jam or how to work on a single mechanic/idea quickly.
Happening on saturday evenings, good to spend it quicker than planned.

This time the theme was “Teamwork” and so I made a kind of scoring game in team.

This time, the game was complete and playable in time, so it’s a nice challenge “won” on my end.

Sword Arena

Sword Arena is my entry for Ludum Dare 31.

You are a sword fighter and have to fight your way through opponents. How many can you dispatch before being taken down ?
The theme of the Ludum Dare was “Entire game on one screen“. Hence the very minimal interface.

The gameplay is a bit deeper than it might seem. The idea is to manage in getting the right timing to inflict damages to the opponent while not opening oneself to some.
A bit of “footsies” as you have to find the correct distance, anticipate what attack/action may come and how to react to it properly.

My sweet garden

For Ludum Dare 30, I entered the jam with a game I had made on my own, but it took me the 72 hours to complete.
The theme was “Connected worlds” which made me wonder for quite a while before actually getting into it.

It is a management game where you have to grow the most beautiful garden before the end of the year.
You do have access to a shop and a monthly budget to get the elements you need.

Grow your garden over the course of a year.
Shop for the elements you will need and plant the flowers when they will allow you to take the most beautiful picture at the end of the year, after having matured.

You only need the mouse to play.
Should be playable on touch device as well.

  • Hoe a plot, so that you can plant a flower or put a decoration.
  • Flowers take some time to arrive to maturation and will have a finite lifetime as well.
    Take that into account while growing your garden.
  • Plots can become pested, you’ll then have to treat them with Anti Pest.
  • A plot occupied by a decoration or a matured flower won’t become pested.

Under the bed

For Ludum Dare 29, I managed to finally make it into my first compo. So I made a full game in 48hours, and managed to release it in time.

The theme was : “Beneath the surface“. So I made a kind of anguish game.

The story is about a little girl who falls asleep at night with her doll Grishka by her side, and soon a threatening hand comes from under her bed.

My entry for the 2014 CyberJam

As someone coming from the Western sector, you’re now considered the scum of the Earth after the loss of the Second Nuclear World War.
Nevertheless, you moved with your family, with the hope of providing a better future for them.

As a former paratrooper, you’re soon involved in the “DragonFall”, an event of strange nature where living humans willingly throw themselves in an often lethal freefall.
Your goal is to survive for the length of the fall and don’t get it by a laser ray, mines or limits of the freefall zone.
Survive the fall and you might get closer to providing a healthy life to your family.

Simply move your character with the arrow keys.

Wasteland Recollections

Collaborating with Sean Noonan this week-end, we made a game for the minild #49.

This is a survival game based on grid/map exploration, gathering of resources through match memory mechanic and time/health/resources management.
This is a “premier jet” of the idea we had. It lacks balance and punch in the gameplay at the moment, even though the gathering/travelling is already pretty fun in my opinion.

We will likely be expanding on it, implementing all the elements we thought about and did not have the time to put in.
