Monk Fight

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

This template is a beat ’em up type of game (inspired by games like Streets of rage).

Kick monks that prevents you from moving on in the level

It is an advanced template, if you are a complete beginner this might be complicated to appropriate yourself.

The template is fully commented nonetheless and should be a valuable resource to build upon.

This is the first template I was allowed to make without having to stick to the free edition’s limitations, which allowed me to take advantage of many advanced features of Construct like families and containers.

Adventures of Bumblebee

In late 2018, I was asked by Digiworks to help out with a project they had been given by Paramount Pictures.

The numeric division of this company had done a runner game for the new spin-off based of the Transformers movies: “Bumblebee”.

I was asked to take that game and make it a two-player split screen race against each other, that was going to be played on a dedicated arcade cabinet.

Cabinets were made and spread out the world for the official release. There was one in France, UK, Germany, Brazil and one is sitting in Paramount’s office in Los Angeles, USA.

I made the game with Construct 2 thanks to the “Paster” third-part add-on that allowed me to “duplicate” the already displayed game in a “split screen”.

Ampélograf

Ampélograf is a huge project I’ve been working on with a team of various talents.

Ampélograf is a guided tour in a virtual village that demonstrates the process of making wine, from grapes up to the glass.

Ampélograf’s village, in the vines

About 100 mini games illustrates the various tasks winegrowers,
oenologists and wine traders are dealing with in their every day life.

This application is available on mobile phones (Google Play and Apple Store). Our team also provides access to a WebApp version (used for example on computers or tactile tables available to the visitors on location).

Experience the reason why bio-diversity helps growing vines
Put the cork on bottles before labelling them

Ampélograf is aimed at wine domains who welcome families and have them visiting.
During wine tasting, it can help with keeping the children busy all while keeping them in the same experience their parents are going through.

For domains, we propose scratch cards that contains a code unlocking all the content of the application. Those cards can be offered or sold to the visitors, allowing them to own the application as if they had purchased it in stores.

Ampélograf is an hybrid application. I did the “content” part of it that you play with Construct 3 (using the Construct 2 legacy runtime) and exported it as HTML5/Cordova that has been used and embedded in a shell my colleagues did and linked with the website and database.

If you have any further question or know some domains or wine makers who could be interested, you can let us know at contact@ampelograf.com

Eat ’em all

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

This template is an implementation of the Pacman game (this name is copyrighted so no one is allowed to use it for a finished product except the owners of the name), made with Construct 3.

The template is fully commented. It was made before the behavior “Tile movement” existed and so it shows how to implement such a behavior with the events system.

Eat all the dots, avoid touching the ghosts.

Falling Shape

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

This template is an implementation of the Tetris game (this name is copyrighted so no one is allowed to use it for a finished product except the owners of the name), made with Construct 3.

Fully commented, it shows how the game was made using some behaviors like 8-direction and solid to handle the shapes and placement of the shapes to complete lines.

It looks like I’m about to complete four lines at once !

Car Lanes

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

This template is about a driving game where you need to avoid cars you go by and cars coming at you from the opposite direction.

The player switch his car from lane to lane, scoring points the longer she goes without colliding with another car.

A template made in the limitations of the free edition for this very arcade type of game.

Race Track

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

A template I had started working on during the period I was able to test Construct 3 in beta version (before public release) in Scirra’s HQ in London. I finished it a year later, once C3 had been publicly released and already had matured.

This is a race driving game in which you are racing against 3 other cars controlled by the computer.

During the race, the rankings of the race are displayed.

The race went for three laps and the car of the player ended in first position.

This is an advanced template, there are complex elements bundled together.

The template still fits in the free edition limits. AI cars go through waypoints in order to follow the track.

Checkpoints are there to help out with the current rankings of the cars, accordingly to the number of laps they already went through.

Quiz

This is a template you can find in the start page of Construct 3

One of the first templates I made for Construct 3.

A simple project that uses the dictionary object to store the questions, possible answers and correct expected answer.

A sprite object, for each answer, allows to select the answer as a user and displays if the answer was the correct one or not.

After a little timer, you are taken to the next question and display it all.

The project contains comments that explain how things are working.

Boule et Bill: Le tournoi de ping-pong

Logo Boule et Bill
The game’s logo on the main screen

Another game made for Digiworks and aimed at the French platform ludo.fr that contains games and videos of cartoons/programs aimed at young people.

In this ping-pong game, you are opposed to the characters from the 3D animated serie Boule et Bill (originally a comic that people my age were familiar with).

First match
One of the first matches against “Caroline” the turtle

The gameplay is quite simple, one click/one touch allows you to serve. When the yellow bar following the ball gets in the blue area, click again to hit the ball.

Later on, a system of a Super comes in, allowing you to fill a bar and throwing a “super hit” to the opponent that generally closes the exchange.

Birdy Nam Nam – Lazers from my heart – The Music Video Game

Again, working with Digiworks, I had the opportunity to work on a quite interesting project.

The French electro band Birdy Nam Nam (talented turntablists) wanted a video game as video clip for one of their song.
It is an original concept in which only the best players get to hear the whole song by playing the game in its length.

You get to enjoy nice non interactive transitions in between the gameplay parts (except on iPhone/iOS where playing video is very technically limited) and see the “story” that happens to the three members of the band as the song goes through.
The band members are the main character for the game(s), each having his own level and his own context.

A nice video in between the gameplay parts tells the story of the music videoA nice video in between the gameplay parts tells the story of the music video

The basic gameplay is of auto-runner kind, jumping over obstacles, bouncing from them to go even further reaching bonuses in the process when the timing used was right.

There are also mini-games in between those parts where the user is to tap frenetically in order to raise the level of a bar.
Fill a certain percentage by the given time and you have won points and go unharmed to the next phase.
Don’t fill the bar enough and you loose a beer bottle/life point in the process.

In a bar, take a selfie of you and a nice babe (to the left) and avoid the biker in the backgroundIn a bar, take a selfie of you and a nice babe (to the left) and avoid the biker in the background

The game stops when you have “consumed” your three lives.

You can then process to submit your email and score in order to participate to a contest where the price were VIP pass to see the band live.
The contest is now over, but you can still do the leaderboard race if you want to and just enjoy the game and music track.

A lot of people and companies were involved in the making of this game.

In the end though I’m the one who did the most of the construction work and putting together of all the elements that compose the game in order for it to work on desktop computers as well as mobiles.
It was an interesting experience and the end product has had good feedback as far as I could tell.
